Nurses as Scrum Masters!

Agile, Redesign of Primary Care

Back when I was in college I worked in the healthcare facility as a primary care worker some Certified Nursing Assistant, Care Giver, or a Behavioral Health Tech.  Now I am a scrum master agile coach I think there are some skills that could be transferable from It to primary care workers or care teams.

The role of a Scrum Master in an Agile team so be something that cares teams should think about adopting in the delivery of client-centric care. In agile, the scrum masters are responsible to facilitate the team events/meetings, train coach, and mentor the team to become a successful and high performing team.

In the healthcare environment, we are familiar with burnout among nurses, Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA), Doctors, etc, looking are some of the risk analyses this is sometimes due to our tools and organizational structures that have not kept up with the changing nature of the healthcare workers. Agility and the Scrum Masters leading the team is just another new way of working that can bring new energy into health care delivery teams and improve everyday workflow for our everyday Heros in hospital and care facilities.

With Covid 19 we have to rapidly change the way we work and in looking at some of the legacy approach and process of our hospital systems, we need to redesign efforts that have shown to be challenging by the slow pace of monthly meetings and sign-offs by multiple committees. Even simple changes seem to require triathlete levels of endurance. I do understand some are life-threatening but using the retrospective aspect of scrum care delivery team can come up with better ways to deliver care.

Drop us a note lets see how we can work with you in designing a new primary care platform that works for you, your patients, families, and compliance agencies.
